Julio Bashmore
Holding On feat. Sam Dew
Holding On feat. Sam Dew
It’s become increasingly difficult to not recognize the absolute #hustle emanating from Bristolian dance producer Julio Bashmore as of late. Coming off an impressive touch of singles which include the succinctly groovy disco-house burner “Rhythm of Auld”, and the classic Chicago house leaning “Kong”; we’ve finally found out more about his impending debut LP, Knockin’ Boots. This morning, Bashmore dropped yet another carefully composed piece of his album puzzle with a shot to disco revivalists everywhere in the form of “Holding On”, along with the concrete announcement of a July 10 release date for Knockin’ Boots through his own Broadwalk Records imprint. JB’s certainly showing off a diverse set of production chops in the buildup to Knockin’, touching down on bases of both classic and deeper but melodious house, nu and classic disco and sterling pop structures to encase an increasingly impressive set of singles. Featuring the lush vocal stylings of Sam Dew, “Holding On” flirts with a few genre ideals, but ultimately rests its laurels within the aforementioned confines of the 2015 real-disco-revival. Led by a set of scuzzy, late 70’s inspired strings and the archetype of classic rolling drums you’d expect to hear Larry Levan mold a Paradise Garage set around, “Holding On” bends slightly more contemporary with a fusion of shuffling hi-hats and an expertly swung, constantly evolving bassline to wrap everything with a lovely bow. Check out Julio Bashmore’s complete tracklist for Knockin’ Boots below, and stream “Holding On” above. Until then, we’ll be waiting rather impatiently for perhaps the biggest dance release of the Summer.
