Montreal indie group Adam & The Amethysts began in 2004 as a side-project for Telefauna and Miracle Fortress member Adam Waito. They put their debut out almost three years ago, and have been very quiet since, until about three weeks ago. Releasing ‘Prophecy’ as the first single of their new album ‘Flickering Flashlight’ was an absolute masterstroke. This comeback single is a joyful folk track that just hurts with pop hooks and sheer fun, and is sure to win them some more fans. ‘Prophecy’ certainly has the energy and heartfelt ending (sentimental lyrics to the tune of ‘Auld Lang Syne’) to be soundtracking those nearby summer days. ‘Prophecy’ is featured on ‘Flickering Flashlight’ (release date TBA), and is available via theamethysts.bandcamp.com.
