Vermont group Bobby are part of the new wave of folkies that seem to be everywhere. ‘Sore Spores’ is a gorgeous little track, evocative of old memories and happy days, and sounding like every great indie-pop band from the past, particularly Modest Mouse. But what really puts ‘Sore Spores’ head-and-shoulders above every other folk group is the guest vocals from the extraordinarily talented Mollie Erin Sarle (of girl-group Mountain Man). With her emotive voice, Mollie lifts the track from psych-folk goodness into essential listening territory. Bobby are a definite band to watch out for in future, and more than deserve wider recognition.
