A few months ago, singer-songwriter Al Spx, AKA Cold Specks, put out her debut album I Predict A Graceful Expulsion, eleven brooding tracks that sound like a hybrid of indie and R&B. “Doom soul” and “gothic rock” are terms that have been thrown around often, and although they’re a tad scary, they might actually accurately describe the Londoner’s deep, dark energy. Whatever creepy vibes she’s pulling from, she need not stop: the music is spine-tingling in all the right eerie ways.
