Mathieu Santos, bassist for NYC’s Ra Ra Riot, is stepping into the limelight with a soon-to-be-released debut album, ‘Massachusetts 2010’. Santos has taken a slightly experimental turn with the record, yet manages to keep the pop sentiment that made Ra Ra Riot one of the leading indie-pop acts of today. ‘Massachusetts 2010”s opening track is ‘I Can Hear The Trains Coming’, and it sets the tone perfectly. With a kick-ass bassline and gloriously poppy guitars, this song is like Vampire Weekend with added sunshine and joy, and is the ideal accompaniment to summer afternoons. ‘I Can Hear The Trains Coming’ is featured on the forthcoming LP ‘Massachusetts 2010’, available August 2 from Barsuk Records.
