Long Island band Coasta only formed earlier this year, but the music on their self-titled EP proves they’ve got the chops to fast-track their career if they so choose. Their style of indie rock does an excellent job of blending the melodic and catchy with crunchy, down on the ground grit. “Young Blood,” the EP’s standout track, exemplifies this perfectly: one minute it’s a soaring, addictive treat, the next it’s a scruffy, rough challenger. Coasta’s songs, no matter the mood or the moment, are atmospheric anthems in their own right. Check out “Young Blood” below and the rest of their EP on their Bandcamp page. Fun fact (at least for me): Coasta’s lead singer Jamey Lacey, is the younger brother of Brand New‘s Jesse Lacey.
