When The Morning Benders put out their well-received second LP, ‘Big Echo’, it was hard to imagine how the band could ever be disappointed by it. However, frontman Chris Chu tweeted his regret at ‘Oh Annie’ not being on ‘Big Echo’, and it’s easy to see why he felt that way. A stark piano and violin-based ode, inspired by Woody Allen’s seminal film ‘Annie Hall’, ‘Oh Annie’ has lovelorn charm and sadness written all over it. From Chu’s gentle crooning to the heart-rending lyrics ‘Annie, oh Annie, how can you go? I taught you everything you know’, ‘Oh Annie’ is the heartbreak ballad of 2011. ‘Oh Annie’ is available via iTunes.
