Wait (Kygo Remix)
Things have continued to heat up for Norwegian electronic producer Kygo, which is a name most TMN readers should be aware of at this point. After his remix of Syn Cole’s “Miami 82”, a tune we featured about a month back, captured the eyes of music critics far and wide, the big wigs at Avicii’s Le7els imprint quickly snapped up the tune for a proper release. The move rather quickly elevated Kygo out of the blogosphere and into mainstream consciousness, while landing him a coveted spot on Diplo’s ‘Diplo & Friends’ radio show last week. But that’s enough yammering for now, and let’s get to his latest tune; a remix of M83’s ethereal pop track “Wait”. Kygo slows up his cadence a bit more than usual to stay in line with M83’s vision, rather opting for a long burning ride while fusing his indistinguishable synth kit onto the entire movement. Quite honestly the remix feels as if it could have been an alternate recording of the original, and we hope that comes across as a huge compliment, seeing as M83’s Anthony Gonzalez has been spending much of his time lately being commissioned by some of the world’s best musicians to score entire films. As Kygo has just eclipsed 200,000 fans on Facebook, this one is being given away for free on his Facebook page as a thank you, and he had this to say about it: “Here’s the first out of two free remixes to thank you all for the amazing support so far and that you’ve helped me break 200k likes on Facebook! Hope you guys like it”. Yes, we like it very much.
