Madison
Who’s ready to suit up and head out for a night on the town? If you raised your hand, then you need to drop whatever you’re doing an take a gander at this 80’s-inspired synth-heavy remix of Madison’s “Gotta Have You.”
As if extracted from an earlier time filled with big hair and excessive cocaine abuse (or so we’ve heard), this interpretation of NYC artist Madison has us shaking and grooving all over the room. The original version of “Gotta Have You” boasted a well-defined guitar riff – the kind that has you wanting to wail on out notes on across imaginary frets in your car – along with grainy vocals distorted to give the perfect amount of edge and pop all wrapped into a perfect, pretty package.
The Twelves, whom claim one of our favorite remixes of all time (hint: it involves Two Door Cinema Club), have taken this garage-rock tune and spun it into a dancefloor pleaser with it’s 80’s synth pop soundscape. The bass line is light and twangy, the percussion is pleasantly simulated, and the vocal sampling is damn near perfect.
All in all, this tune is a stellar piece of remix perfection, and ideal for your first round of shots this weekend.
