Derek Vincent Smith, better known as Pretty Lights, released this video yesterday to accompany his single from earlier this month. “We Must Go On” is a relaxed soul-filled track that has more hip-hop influences than electro. It may have been the massive tour, capped by two mammoth shows in the Broomfield that left him wanting to produce something chill, and laid back. Either way, Derek’s versatility to switch from dubstep, to electro, to hip hop once again shines through in this gem.
According to Smith, “…the creation of this track and video is also an artistic explanation as to why I chose the name “Pretty Lights” for my musical project. It embodies the essence of the artistic eye and the idea that almost any moment, anywhere, can be a moment of inspiration and beauty.”
