Sea Full Of Sharks (feat. Hannah Georgas)
As we come out of our luxurious three-day weekend, we’re anxious to start unloading the bevy of delicious tunes that stacked up over the brak. Among a few other premieres we have today, we’re admittedly most excited to bring you this genre-bending tune from 18 year old rapper, OSWALD.
Hailing from San Francisco’s flourishing hip hop scene, this deep-thinking, often-cerebral lyricist is following up on a what seems like a year-long release hiatus, welcoming his fans back to his next level observations. “Sea Full of Sharks” is an interesting blend of musical genres, creating something that will flirt effortlessly with the varying fans from each. Canadian singer/songwriter Hannah Georgas walks the song in to some fluttering chords and driving hip hop percussion, leading us to think that we might be in store for a supercharged synth pop song.
Taking an unexpected turn, OSWALD enters the tune, laying down his views on the milked over state of hip hop. Throughout his verses, which stylistically remind us of Das Racist at times, Georgas pops in and out with her delicate indie style vocals for the chorus. It’s not only a unique approach, but it’s one that we can’t stop listening to.
