Crime (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)
Like many artists seem to be doing these days, Mayer Hawthorne gave NPR the go ahead to put up an advance stream of his album, Where Does This Door Go in anticipation of its release next Tuesday. One of the most intriguing pieces from the project happens to be “Crime,” the crooner’s first collaboration with the young and talented Kendrick Lamar. It seems like you can’t go anywhere without seeing Kendrick’s name these days, yet we still haven’t grown tired of him. Hawthorne ditches his traditional Motown sound for something with a bit more West Coast edge on this one. It still makes for a rather easy listen however, and we’re sure we’ll be coming back for seconds plenty of times during the summer.
