Since we first heard their killer track “Solid Gold” way back in the summer of 2008, it’s pretty surprising that Penelope Trappes and Stephen Hindman, better known as The Golden Filter are just now releasing their debut album Volupsa. While the album doesn’t drop officially until April 26 (regardless of whether or not it may already be floating around the interweb), many of us have already heard some of the tracks, like the aforementioned “Solid Gold” and “Hide Me”, the album’s first single. And I think it’s safe to say that when you look at the two tracks side by side, “Hide Me” is the more subdued take on the sound of The Golden Filter. And the Clock Opera remix is even more interesting because it makes the track sound brighter and darker at the same time. Word on the street is that these kids were pretty great at SXSW, and hopefully they will be coming soon to a venue near me.
