01. Lost In It (Avail on iTunes)
Before it all started Poppin’ Off, there as a story of three men and a duck. Sound silly? Maybe. But, this mowtown, soul, and EDM infused quartet (counting the duck) is anything but. Yes, we were first introduced to Watch the Duck with their big bassy track, “Poppin Off.” How did they get there though? Well, this genre bending group has put together a series of music videos telling the story of how they came to be.
The first release was ” Freedomville (Anatidaephobia Part 1)” The video displays a girl running from door to door opening them, curious as to what lies behind it. This symbolizes the band being sick of doing music for other people, and craving to find what they really wanted to do as musicians.
The next release is of course what we’re bringing you today, Lost In It (Anatidaephobia Part 2). This trippy, carnivalesque short film takes on a ride through the groups journey getting lost in the scene in Atlanta. The track itself provides the perfect association for this video. The big buzzing bass, haunting melodies, sharp electrified synths, and emotion rich vocals give this a thought evoking soundtrack to an already thought provoking music video.
Look for the third and fourth installments coming soon, which will complete the story and take us to what we are all familiar with, “Popping Off”. And while you’re waiting for that release to come about, head over to iTunes and snag a copy of Watch the Duck’s EP, Anatidaephobia.
