J. Period recently got the go ahead from Kanye West himself to compile a mixtape full of remixes of G.O.O.D. Music classics and unreleased material, appropriately titled G.O.O.D. Music Remixed & Unreleased. One of those previously locked up tracks to surface is this one right here. Judging by the flow, “Hold On” seems to be a holdover from The College Dropout/Late Registration era of Ye’s career. The short but sweet number features Yeezy and former affiliate Consequence trading bars over a simple, but effective piano-laden beat. The track serves as a reminder of just how formidable of a force the two of them were together, and it’s a shame things had to end the way they did.
As a bonus track, we’ve included another recent leak from the mixtape, “Cut That Out” also by Consequence. For those of you interested in the full project, it’s available for purchase on iTunes, but not in the US quite yet.
