[NEW] AWOLNATION – Sail (Remix) (Feat. Kendrick Lamar & Ab-Soul)

AWOLNATION
Sail (Remix) ft. Kendrick Lamar & Ab-Soul

Kendrick Lamar and the Top Dawg crew really want to make sure this is an amazing week for you. After receiving the stellar remix for “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe” on Monday, and ScHoolboy Q‘s awesome new track “Yay Yay” early Friday, we’ve now been blessed with a remix to AWOLNATION‘s hit single “Sail” complete with guest verses from Kendrick and Black Hippy running mate, Ab-Soul. While the remix may lack the punch of the original, it has been edited by Sounwave to make it a little bit more hip-hop friendly. Kendrick and Ab-Soul undoubtably deliver on their verses, although it can be hard to tell what they’re saying at times, considering the song’s plastered with tags from the L.A. Leakers. It looks like we’ll have to wait for the official version to drop, but in the meantime let’s enjoy what we can of it.

[New] Meek DeMeo – Hallucinogen ft Ab-Soul

Newcomer Meek DeMeo helps listeners get over that one love on his latest single “hallucinogen”. What some would drink, talk, or cry away their pain after a break-up, unsigned hype DeMeo chooses neither and would rather fry out the memory with some psychedelic drugs. Although not everyone’s best interest, the singer’s vocals give off a strong and moody vibe that is only emphasized by production from Austin Ceyala. Mixing some Weeknd-esque singing with some studio effects, atmospheric beats and synth heavy backgrounds, this track definitely gives off a wide range of trippy sounds. Throwing in a quick beatswitch, courtesy of W:ZARD, TDE signee Ab-Soul jumps on the last minute of the track for a high-energy outro. Be sure to check out the interesting single below and stay tuned for more from the R&B singer when his Capital Vices EP drops.

[Hip-Hop] Ab-Soul & JMSN – You’re Gone

As two of the most promising up and coming artists in the game right now, Ab-Soul and JMSN released arguably two of the best albums of 2012, with Control System and ∫Priscilla∫ respectively. When it was announced that they’d be releasing a collaborative project together this year, it’s needless to say that fans were excited. We finally have our first taste of what these two have been cooking up, and boy is it spicy. Despite this being a collaborative album, it’s clear that Ab-Soul dominates throughout this track, with JMSN essentially providing what amounts to some background vocals. Nonetheless, his presence is certainly welcome on this one. The Top Dawg influence is certainly prevalent in the production and tone of the song, causing you to expect Kendrick Lamar or ScHoolboy Q to pop out at any second to drop an ill verse. Hopefully we can get a remix with either of them sometime in the future. As for now, we definitely have a solid foundation for Unit 6, dropping later this year.

Although Kendrick Lamar has been receiving the most attention as of late, it is important to remember just how dope all four members of the Black Hippy crew truly are. Both artists demonstrate their lyrical prowess as they get spiritual urging the listeners to keep their “chakras open” during the chorus.
