[NEW] Broken Bells – After The Disco

Broken Bells
After the Disco

We have less than a month left until we get to experience Broken Bells‘ sophomore effort, After The Disco, making its the perfect time to get our first listen of the album’s title track. “After The Disco” ironically borrows certain elements from that genre itself, which ultimately leads to a far more upbeat number than its predecessor, “Holding On For Life,” while keeping the same level of desperation through its lyrics. While we certainly love everything Brian Burton has done with the groovy production, it’s The Shins frontman who really shines on this track through his glimmering falsetto. It’s remarkable to think it’s been nearly four years since Danger Mouse and James Mercer’s first team-up, making the anticipation for their follow up that much more agonizing. The wait is finally over on February 4th, so get you pre-orders in as soon as possible.

Holding On For Life

Broken Bells–the eclectic pairing of Danger Mouse and James Mercer from The Shins–are finally ready to embark on a new journey together, gearing up for the release of After The Disco, the follow-up to their 2010 self-titled debut. The first offering from the project, “Holding On For Life,” feels like the beginning of a funky, psychedelic spage-age odyssey, which might explain why the band has also put together an accompanying sci-fi film starring Kate Mara and Anton Yelchin. You can check out the first part of the Jacob Gentry directed series after the jump. Stay tuned for more from Broken Bells ahead of their album release on January 14th.

A kind bluesy song that paired with a chorus in the backgrounds, makes it sound larger than life itself. I cant wait for all the great music coming 2010.
