[Chill] Childish Gambino – U Don’t Have To Call (67th Hour Remix)

Childish Gambino
U Don't Have To Call (67th Hour Remix)

There’s usually always a part of the week where you need to clear your head. No matter what you’ve got going on, a short reset is a necessity and then you can jump right back into your groove. We’ve got a nice way to enjoy your break right here thanks to a master of chilled out house, 67th Hours. About a week ago (week ago), he comforted our ears with a blissful edition of “U Don’t Have To Call” by Chilidish Gambino, and it is the perfect recipe for a mid week lull. With a subtle tropical atmosphere, the tune is simple in nature with minimal percussion, but is comforting to our ears and even tugs on the heartstrings a little bit. The filtered guitar and vocals are dreamlike, and, being the focus of the track, really bring the tune together. Grab your copy through his Facebook and find some peace.

[Hip-Hop] OverDoz. – 7,000 Girls (Feat. Childish Gambino & King Chip) (Prod. Patrick Paige II of The Internet)

OverDoz.
7,000 Girls ft. Childish Gambino & King Chip

It’s been a minute since we’ve featured anything from OverDoz. on these pages, but you know what they say, ain’t no time like the present. On their first outing since the release of last year’s mixtape, Boom, the fabulous foursome link up with Childish Gambino and King Chip as they trade tales about their sexual conquests. Though those numbers have still yet to be verified, for now we’ll take the group at their word when they say that collectively, they’ve slept with “7,000 Girls.” More unbelievable things have occurred, but just like in basketball, no one will ever approach Wilt Chamberlain numbers. Although it might get tiring at some point to hear rappers constantly bragging about their lifestyle, this laidback cut has its own undeniable charm, which probably stems from the smooth, yet quirky instrumental crafted by Patrick Paige II of The Internet. Check out the wacky tune above, and keep on the lookout for any projects the Cali natives might be gearing up for in the near future.

Secret Track

Remember when Donald Glover told his fans to learn how to code? Well, it looks like that advice is finally paying off. Over the weekend, one astute reddit user discovered a secret track hidden within Bino’s becausetheinter.net website. After some clever sleuthing and collaboration with his fellow super fans, he decided to pair the mysterious vocals with the “3005 – Beach Picnic Version” instrumental from Bino’s recently released KAUAI EP, and miraculously enough the two audio sources synced up perfectly! The end result–which you can listen to above–has been verified by Gambino himself, and it goes to show what you can achieve with a little hard work and persistence.

[Mixtape] Childish Gambino – STN MTN

Seemingly appearing out of thin air, Childish Gambino has finally released his much anticipated Gangsta Grillz mixtape, STN MTN. Part of an innovative two part mixtape/EP called STN MTN / KAUAI, this is just the first half of the project, with the second half set for release on iTunes very soon. The mixtape features Bino hopping on instrumentals we traditionally wouldn’t expect him on, such as Future‘s “Move That Dope” or Lil Wayne‘s “Go DJ,” while continuing to experiment with various other new sounds.

Although we don’t have a release date for KAUAI yet, here’s what Bino recently told Complex about the project:

“It’s a Gangsta Grillz mixtape that goes into an EP. The Gangsta Grillz mixtape is a dream, and the dream ends when I wake up in Kauai. And they go into each other; it’s one complete project. You can download the mixtape and you can go buy the EP. The money from the EP goes to help with keeping Kauai clean.”

[NEW] Childish Gambino – Sober

Childish Gambino
Sober [rough]

Forgive us for somehow missing out on this gem earlier today, as we were engaging in our usual Sunday football rituals. Although that’s not the best excuse, we hope you’re just as pleasantly surprised as we were to discover new material from Childish Gambino. Titled “Sober,” the track is set to be included on Bino’s double-sided mixtape, STN MTN / KAUAI, which is yet to receive a release date. Pulled from the KAUAI side of the tape, “Sober” finds the talented artist demonstrating his vocal chops, creating a pop tune that sounds right at home with many of his recent records.

While on the surface the lush, mercurial soundscape gives the song the appearance of a rather upbeat tune, if you pay close attention to the lyrics, you’ll realize it’s actually rather grim. With a hook that declares, “And now that it’s over, I’ll never be sober/I couldn’t believe, but now I’m so high,” it’s pretty clear that Bino had his heart broken recently and is turning to other substances to help ease the pain. The rest of the track finds him trying to reason with the girl and patch thing up in a last ditch effort, but his efforts seem to be in vain. It makes for an interesting dynamic, as your natural instincts to smile happily and nod your head along with the delightful melody contrast heavily with the song’s contents.

Given the title of the track on SoundCloud, it seems like this is still a rough version, but nonetheless, we’re interested to see what other sounds Childish has been experimenting with lately and can barely contain our excitement for the upcoming mixtape.

[Hip-Hop] Childish Gambino – Candler Road

Childish Gambino
candler road

Without so much as a warning Childish Gambino took to Twitter tonight to drop his first single since the release of last year’s Because The Internet. In recent weeks, Bino has been touring the festival circuit and proclaiming himself as one of the top five rappers in the game, calling out Kendrick Lamar, Drake, ScHoolboy Q and many of his other contemporaries. Upon first listen to this brand new cut, it’s clear the rapper certainly has a chip on his shoulder. The track–named after Candler Road in Decatur, Georgia–definitely has a Southern trap vibe to it, with Bino utilizing a flow similar to what we heard on his Royalty mixtape. Midway through though, we hear the synths begin to build as the instrumental transforms into something similar to one of his previous singles, “Telegraph Ave.” Interestingly enough, the tune also comes after Bino’s recent “white rapper” Twitter rant, and it leaves us wondering if this is his way of showing us both sides of the same coin.

There’s no indication yet of whether this will be included on any future projects or not, but Gambino has indicated that he’s working on a joint EP with Chance The Rapper and plans to release another album later this year.

Hide (Tropkillaz Remix) Feat. Childish Gambino & Aynzli Jones

It’s always a great day when you get to hear a new verse from Childish Gambino. Well consider yourself lucky, as the man formerly known as Troy Barnes joins Aynzli Jones on the bass heavy Tropkilaz remix of N.A.S.A.‘s “Hide.” While Bino isn’t about to set the world on fire with this particular set of bars, he fits in perfectly over the screeching synths and thundering 808’s of the festival ready anthem. Check out the fantastic single above, and be prepared to hear this plenty of times over the upcoming months.
