[NEW] Childish Gambino – The Worst Guys (Feat. Chance The Rapper)

[Track Removed]

On one of the most highly anticipated tracks from Childish Gambino‘s Because The Internet, he recruits Chitown’s Chance The Rapper to return the favor on the playfully titled “The Worst Guys.” Disappointingly, Chance is only featured on the chorus, but this latest leak continues to raise our expectations of what to expect from the upcoming album. Make sure to grab yourself a pre-order of what’s sure to be one of the best projects to drop this year, before it hits shelves on December 10th.

’Childish Gambino – Telegraph Ave (Ta ku Remix)’

Childish Gambino has been on a roll the last few weeks as he prepares for the December 10th release of his second album, Because of the Internet.  Earlier today, Bino re-tweeted a status from actor Michael B. Jordan, of The Wire and Fruitvale Station, that included the dreamy “Telegraph Ave.” and a remix from up and coming producer Ta-Ku. While we saw the higher-energy, punchline-heavy Childish on “Sweatpants”, he showcases his singing chops over floating, synth-heavy production only rapping briefly, but effectively, around the 2-minute mark. The title of the song refers to a main street that covers multiple cities, including Oakland, within the East Bay Area. While pure speculation, it seems possible that Michael B. Jordan’s recent role as Oakland’s Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station has some thing to do with the way it was released.

While the original is a treat in itself, the Ta-Ku remix might be the true gem of this release. The Huh What & Where affiliated artist puts a beautiful twist on the track chopping, and distorting, the vocals and speeding things up a bit with a variety of unique percussion.

Childish Gambino‘s Because The Internet is only weeks away, and we can hardly contain our excitement. Pre-orders for the album have just opened up, and those who purchased it today were treated with this brand new single from the project. Despite what the title might suggest, “Sweatpants” is quite the banger, as Bino laces a loopy 808-fueled beat with some ridiculous bars, with Cali native Problem weaving in a few ad-libs as well. From what we’ve heard so far, it seems like this might be his best work to date, meaning you need to get your pre-order in ASAP.

[NEW] Childish Gambino – Melrose

With an album dropping at the end of the year called Because The Internet, Childish Gambino is showing he certainly has a mastery over the web. Without including much background information at all, this latest track from Childish was included conspicuously in a tweet to “Bed Peace” collaborator, Jhené Aiko earlier tonight. “Melrose” is a rather bare track overall, featuring Bino crooning “Someone gave you all my love,” repeatedly over percolating keys and mellow percussion. We’ve heard Donald take a break from rapping before, but we can’t help but feel this track is a little incomplete. Hopefully something comes out of that message to Aiko, and we’ll be able to hear more from the pair in the future. Check out the single above, and feel free to grab yourself a free download as well.

It has been great to have Childish Gambino back. In the last few weeks, the unique and fresh emcee has resurfaced continuing to evolve his sound. This morning, Bino returns to his more comical self with a track in honor of the one and only WorldStar Hip-Hop. Over a heavy, minimal beat layered with an appropriate “Worldstar” chant, the multi-talented artist goes with a staggered flow discussing all sorts of mischievous scenarios. Topping it all off, the song closes with an extended, epic horn outro accompanied by the always dope singing voice of Childish in stark contrast to the playful feel of the rest of the song.

Gambino’s Because the Internet drops on December 10th. In the meantime, enjoy and grab a free download above.  Also, make sure to check out his incredible and unconventional freestyle over Drizzy’s “Pound Cake” from his recent stop at Sway in the Morning after the jump!

[Hip-Hop] Childish Gambino – Yaphet Kotto (Freestyle)

yaphet kotto (freestyle)

Earlier today, Childish Gambino took to Twitter to announce that his upcoming album, Because The Internet, would be dropping this winter. It seems like an appropriate title, given that Bino can attribute much of his fame and success to the web (although that can be said for just about every musician these days). Not content with just an announcement though, Mr. Glover decided to commemorate the occasion by giving us a taste of just what we should expect from the effort, with “Yaphet Kotto.” The soulful single features the Georgia representative running through his entire repertoire of flows, as he employs clever wordplay to convey personal messages throughout the cut. The song doesn’t seem to be a “freestyle” in the traditional sense; rather, it seems to refer more to the song’s sporadic nature, as Childish continously hops from one topic to another.

We look forward to hearing more from Gambino throughout the course of the year, but in the meantime, make sure to check out the track above, as well as the accompanying trailer for Because The Internet below.
