Good news for you loyal ninjas out there. The wait is finally over…well kind of. Daft Punk has come out and announced that their newest album–their first studio album in eight years–will be titled Random Access Memories. The album is slated for a May 21st release, and pre-orders are already available now on iTunes. While the tracklist hasn’t been revealed, we do know that the project will have 13 supremely awesome new Daft Punk songs. All we can do now is pre-order the album, and count down the days until May 21st (and hope for a single or two in the meantime). The year of the comeback continues!
[Fresh] Daft Punk – Emphazed
Fake or not fake…..that is the question. To be completely honest it doesn’t matter right now, but this shows some light at the end of the tunnel. This could be off their upcoming 2013 album, we’re not sure yet; nonetheless it’s a funky tune featuring an infectious melody with flawless pitch bends on catchy and uplifting chords. Whether this is Daft Punk or not, is up to you. Cheers.

Daft Punk – Tron Legacy Soundtrack Review + Remixes
Music Nerd and friend Anthony from The Needle Drop hit all the main points of what we think about the new Tron Legacy Soundtrack so I’ll let his words and shinny head speak for ourselves. Apart from being a Music Blog, The Needle Drop is full of more detailed video reviews of new tracks and albums so make sure you check him out.

Remixes:
Cassettes Won’t Listen (NYC DJ/Producer Jason Drake) has been recording to the likes of MTV and Spin Magazine in recent years and even had time to make a cameo on NBC’s “Chuck.” His remix of Daft Punk’s “Derezzed” could be considered the mellow and smoother of the many remixes available of this track. Slightly ambient in sound, this would work great for a downtempo or afterhours vibe. The subtle dubstep in the middle of the track is a very nice surprise.
Daft Punk – Derezzed (Cassettes Won’t Listen remix)
Los Angeles brothers Josh and Matt David (P.K.A. Breakdown) have been remixing and producing (two tracks of which peaked at #2 on Beatport’s Electro House charts) since 2008. They didn’t just ‘breakdown’ their own version of “Derezzed,” they brought the house down while they were at it. Of all of the remixes of this track, this works best as the big room banger, rich with a consistent hard beat coupled with a major banging sound at the 2:38 mark.

And to follow this track lets stay with the Gorillaz for a bit. Daft Punk and the Gorillaz are cool enough individually already.. but add them together.. and you reach another level of awesome.

[Games] Dj Hero Sountrack
If you are a music fan, and by reading this you probably already are one, then you should be familiar with the plethora of musical/timing games, like Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Band Hero, and now DJ Hero just to name a few. To celebrate the release of Dj Hero we put together a small sample playlist of some of the best songs we found on the game’s soundtrack, to give you a taste of what you can expect. The game track list is mostly compromised of good quality mash-ups, combining two tracks to try to form a distinct experience for the player. Although these tracks were some of the best we found, we also noticed many mediocre ones that only seem to be enjoyable when you are playing the game but otherwise do not have much playback value.
The game is definitely worth checking out.
