[NEW] Drake – Charged Up

’Drake – Charged Up’

We’ve done our best to stay away from the whole Meek Mill versus Drake fiasco that’s dominated the hip-hop headlines this week. While we’ll continue to keep our opinions about the issue to ourselves, it’s hard to ignore this latest output from Drake as he finally responds to some of the criticisms he’s faced. Though he claims to be “Charged Up,” Drizzy stays relatively calm and collected throughout the ominous single. The song was debuted earlier today as part of Drake’s OVO Sound Radio show on Apple Music, along with a few other tracks like “Right Hand”, a flip of D.R.A.M.‘s “Cha Cha”, and a new collaboration between PARTYNEXTDOOR and Travi$ Scott titled “No Feelings”. It’ll be interesting to see if Meek Mill decides to issue his own counter, because chances are this won’t be the last we hear from the two of them.

[Hip-Hop] The Game – 100 (Feat. Drake)

THE GAME Feat. DRAKE
100

As he gears up for the long awaited sequel to his classic debut album The Documentary, The Game attempts to take things 0 to “100” real quick on this brand new cut featuring Drake. All jokes aside, this soulful Cardo and Johnny Juliano produced joint actually has a chance to be a hit single for the West Coast emcee, whose star hasn’t really shined as bright as it once did when he first hit the scene ten years ago back in 2005. Let’s just hope he’s able to rekindle some of that magic on the album’s remaining tracks as well, because it will definitely take some work on his part to craft a worthy follow-up in The Documentary 2. There’s no set release date yet, but The Game definitely has us intrigued about what he has in store for the upcoming project.

Just Hold On We're Going Home (LUCA LUSH Remix ft. Kim Vallido)

There’s no telling what LUCA LUSH is going to do next. A good Drake remix is always welcome, and he has supplied exactly that. The main single from Nothing Was The Same only gets flipped by LUCA LUSH, but covered by the breezy vocal prowess of Kim Vallido, who holds down her duties with ease.

Shedding the almost slow house feel of the original, this rendition opts for more of a spacey, hip-hop approach. The synths twinkle and growl while the drums bring some bite through the low end, resulting in a textbook LUCA LUSH flip. We’re no stranger to his remixing capabilities, and the use of a vocalist provided yet another tool that he has proven he can master. Grab the download via ToneDen below:

[NEW] Big Sean – Blessings (Feat. Drake & Kanye West)

Big Sean
Blessings ft. Drake & Kanye West

Days after announcing his upcoming third studio album, Dark Sky Paradise, Big Sean has decided to share the second single from the project, this time receiving some “Blessings” from longtime buddy Drake. If the project name wasn’t already a dead giveaway, it seems as if Sean is aiming for a much more ominous direction with this upcoming release, which could serve as a foil to his mentor Kanye, who seems to be headed in the opposite direction these days. Regardless, Sean Don always makes for a fun listen, and whether you love him or hate him, chances are you won’t be able to avoid him once the project drops on February 24th.

UPDATE: Kanye West added to the official version of the single.

[Shoegaze Drake] Drake – Best I Ever Had (Mason Flynt Remix)

Drake
Best I Ever Had (Mason Flynt Remix)

Finding words to describe this has been tough. Here’s about the best way to explain it: Shoegaze Drake. Did you ever think you’d hear that phrase in your life? Well, Mason Flynt dropped a remix of Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” yesterday that sounds like something out straight out of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. It really catches the ear and makes for an unexpected great listen. He found a great balance between electronic elements and live instrumentation for what ended up being one of the most unique takes on Drake out there. This was a huge switch up in style for the primarily hip-hop influenced producer and remixer, but it really does work and is simply fun. Mason has had some spectacular tunes so far, and the Austin native is slowly beginning to make a name for himself with his solid collection of slick songs. Luckily enough, this remix a free download, so you DJs out there can inject a major dose of feels in your set and get emotional in the club real quick.
