[NEW] Rich Homie Quan – Tell Me Why (Feat. Drake) + Rich Gang – Tha Tour Part 2

’Rich Homie Quan
Tell Me Why (Feat. Drake)’

When Birdman first recruited Rich Homie Quan & Young Thug to be a part of Rich Gang, it seemed like a natural fit as Quan and Thugger were already two of the more prominent rising faces at the forefront of the ATL rap scene. Now, the group has plans for a sequel to their successful mixtape, Tha Tour Part 1. Though we have no concrete release date for the project, it seems as if most–if not all–the tracks have now surfaced online. Featuring guest spots from Drake, Fabolous, Ty Dolla $ign and Dej Loaf, the star studded follow-up seems poised to build upon where the last left off. Regardless of where the tracks are from, this should be enough to power you through your New Year’s Celebrations. Check out the Drizzy assisted single above, and stream the rest of the tracks after the jump. Continue reading

[Hip-Hop] Fabolous – The Soul Tape 3

Fabolous has struggled with consistency throughout his entire career. Anointed as a successor to Jay-Z in the New York hip-hop scene during his early days as an emcee, he’s never seemed to live up to the expectations allotted to him by fans, despite having plenty of commercial success. While we can’t get behind everything that Loso has released in recent times, there’s always one thing we can look forward to every year: The Soul Tape. Incepted in 2011, the series has reflected the qualities most appreciated in Fab as an emcee (his smooth demeanor, witty punchlines, etc.) as he rhymes over soulful instrumentals both old and new. This year’s edition comes gift wrapped in a giant bow, featuring artists like Jadakiss, Ryan Leslie, Young Jeezy, Meek Mill, and Jeremih as well as production from araabMUZIK, Boi-1da, ILLmind, and more. Check out a few highlights from the project below, and then follow the link to cop a free download of the tape.

The Hip-Hop Dojo [Vol. 13]

June was definitely a monumental month for hip-hop. With album releases from the likes of Kanye WestJ. ColeWale, and even more, it’s easy to feel a bit overwhelmed from the wide influx of new music. While we were all preoccupied with the heavy hitters, it may have been easy to sleep on some of the other hustlers out there trying to push the music game forward. I admit I fell behind myself, hence why this edition of the Hip-Hop Dojo has been sitting in my drafts for weeks now. Lucky for you guys though, we here at The Music Ninja are here to fill you in on what you might’ve missed over the last month or so.

As I mentioned earlier, this post is long overdue, which is exactly why it’s bursting at the seams with 40+(!) new tracks for a hearty heaping helping of hip-hop goodness (try saying that 5 times fast). I’ve been on my grind over the last couple of days to finally get this playlist in your hands, and there’s a reason why I carefully selected this date to finally unleash it to the world. Today just so happens to be my birthday (yes, this is a shameless attempt at getting more birthday wishes), so as my present to all of you loyal ninjas, I bequeath unto you the thirteenth edition of The Hip-Hop Dojo. Now I’m not quite crazy enough to do a summary of all the songs on this list, so this time around I’ll just give you a rundown of my favorites. Although picking out of a list of roughly 45 songs is no easy task, I’d probably have to say my favorites are (in no particular order): Curren$y’s “Killer$,” Vic Mensa‘s “Hollywood LA,” Fabolous‘ “Young OG,” MeLo-X‘s “The Truth,” Jon Connor‘s “When I Was Young,” Dillon Cooper‘s “Kung Fu” Action Bronson‘s “Heel Toe,” Produktive‘s “Show Me Love,” and finally the knxwledge remix of Denitia & Sene‘s “Casanova.” With that being said, I’d like to think each and every song in this collection brings something unique to the table. Given the length of the playlist, I suggest taking the weekend to sift through it all. Maybe you could even give it a go during your Independence Day cookouts.

We hope you guys enjoyed our thirteenth edition of The Hip-Hop Dojo as much as we did! As always, you can send all submissions/suggestions to baseer@themusicninja.com.

[R&B/Hip-Hop] The-Dream – Slow It Down (Feat. Fabolous)

Lost in the Valentine’s Day shuffle was this brand new cut from Terius Nash, a.ka. The-Dream. With this bouncy and infectious tune, the Radio Killa brings us a sound consistent with some of his previous hits like “Shawty is A 10” and “Throw it In The Bag” which coincidentally, also feature frequent running mate Fabolous. Although The-Dream doesn’t think this’ll be played on Top 40 radio, it’s hard to deny that he has yet another hit on his hands. Make sure to be on the lookout for his newest album, Fourplay, in stores May 7th.

[Hip-Hop] Fabolous – SoNY (Prod. Just Blaze)

On his brand new street single, Loso wants to let you know that he’s from New York, just in case you didn’t know so. Fabolous comes with the punches on this one, taking subtle shots at other rappers who claim to be from New York but longer spend much time there, while taking not so subtle shots at some out of towners, shouting “I’m so New York, Weezy probably don’t like me” on the chorus. Featuring some high energy production from Just Blaze, Loso really looks to mark his territory, boasting about the success he’s had without a mentor or specific affiliation of any sort. With this recent release, Loso is ready to prove that he can handle the crown as New York’s chosen son.
