It’s Monday, which probably means it’s now time to atone for some of your more inappropriate escapades from the past weekend. California femcee K.Flay recognizes that, although she’s not about to admit to being a sinner. Hoping to relive some of the memories she made (and presumably forgot), K.Flay pulls off a delicate balancing act between sultry vocals and provocative lyrics over some opaque and buzzing production from Felix Cartal. Meanwhile, Danny Brown continues on his recent rampage of absolutely murdering guest verses. By now, you should all be familiar with the Detroit spitter’s frenzied, and almost deranged style. While Danny definitely makes his presence known, he doesn’t take anything away from K.Flay, who certainly holds her own. If you’re interested in hearing more from the young female emcee, check out her recently released West Ghost tape. Here we go! Felix Cartal’s notorious summertime anthem, “Tonight,” gets a bumpin’ rework at the hands of Toronto duo, Autoerotique. How this track slipped under the radar, is a complete mystery..

Maintaining that wonderfully euphoric vibe of the original, the boys notch up the tempo, and completely re-haul the drop. Thankfully though, staying true to the lifeblood of the track, the infamous vocals of Maja Ivarsson remain completely intact, in all their glory throughout the tune.. Class.

Autoerotique’s remix of Felix Cartal’s “Tonight” is out now on Dim Mak records, and is available for purchase on their official Tonight Remixes EP.

We have an amazing present for all of you from Vancouver’s very own dj/producer Felix Cartal. Out of the thousands of up and coming producers that do get attention, even fewer are able to create intricate electronic melodies that stand out as unique as Felix Cartal has been doing for the past months. Today Felix Cartel brings us “City Of Love” featuring Katrina Noorbergen, a funky and soft dance rager where he openly admitted to have slowed things down on this track to give his upcoming album much more substance:

“A traditionally structured pop tune highlighted by the vocals of Cassette Kids. I loved Katrina’s voice the minute I heard it, it almost has this slight Gwen Stefani quality to it. When creating this record, I wanted some slower-paced non-dance floor tracks to balance out the whole record and I knew her vocal would compliment this kind of tune perfectly. This is my interpretation of a ballad (at 130bpm).” – Felix Cartal

[Unique Dance] Felix Cartal – Domo (Original Mix)

Vancouver-based Felix Cartal has been making electro, house and afrobeat tracks for a while now and he always seems to come up with unique sounds and production styles. In his latest single, “Domo”, Cartal fuses beautiful major chord progressions and melodic buildups with an unusual machine gun style synth line and afrobeat drums. Whether it is inspired by the red ballon, the blonde or the fuzzy little brown monster of the same name, “Domo” is a fun new ride that brings the listener into a happy place in Cartal’s unusual world.
