[NEW] Eminem – Detroit Vs. Everybody (Feat. Royce Da 5’9″, Big Sean, Danny Brown, Dej Loaf & Trick Trick) (Prod. Statik Selektah)

Eminem, Royce, Big Sean, Danny Brown
Detroit Vs Everybody Shade 45 Rip (prod. by Statik Selektah)

In a major move that almost nobody saw coming, Eminem assembles a few of Detroit’s finest to form a monster collaboration that pits the city’s top dogs against the rest of the rap game. This is a team up that fans have been pining after for awhile, and it’s great to see all of these Motor City natives assembled together under one roof. Featuring some heavy hitters like Royce Da 5’9″, Big Sean, Danny Brown and Dej Loaf, this absolute banger finds each emcee in top form as they trade indelible bars over a stadium worthy Statik Selektah instrumental. We won’t make a judgment on who murdered their verse the hardest, but it’s definitely closer than you might expect.

It’s only appropriate that the track would be featured on Marshall’s upcoming Shady XV compilation project, dropping later this month on November 24th. Those interested in copping this single before that date can pre-order the project on iTunes now. And if you haven’t had enough Eminem, check out the “SHADY CXVPHER” he released earlier today that features Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf, after the jump.

[Hip-Hop] BET Hip-Hop Awards 2013: The Cyphers

The BET Hip-Hop Awards finally aired earlier tonight, and while I personally am not a huge fan of the show, there’s one segment that I eagerly anticipate every year: The Cyphers. The Cyphers are really where the event truly shines, bringing together some of the most talented emcees in the game, underground and mainstream. This year’s lineup is certainly a formidable one, featuring the likes of TDE, A$AP MobSlaughterhouseAction BronsonTravi$ ScottRittzJon Connor, and even some jokes courtesy of J.B. SmooveKevin Hart, and Nick Cannon. Check out the cyphers below, and let us know who you think went in the hardest (we’re guessing the popular answer will be Kendrick Lamar).

The Hip-Hop Dojo [Vol. 8]

While last week’s playlist managed to keep things on the lighter side in preparation for the summer, this week’s load is a bit heavier. Featuring a wide array of crafty wordsmiths and lyrical masterminds, the eight edition of the Hip-Hop Dojo is bound to get your head nodding and your mind racing. While I won’t be elaborating on every track this week, please note that we do have quite a bit of diversity in this group. Most of the names on this list should be familiar to you already, but there are a few newcomers this time around too.

First off, we’d like to welcome you to “Get Inspired” by 16 year-old rap phenom, AkonoMiles. Over a soulful sample of James Brown‘s “Sunny“, the eager young emcee shows us he knows just how to have fun, while also displaying skills far beyond his years. Another new name to the mix is Nike Nando, who lets us know exactly why he’s not one to be messed with. The SAVEMONEY crew makes a return this week as well, providing a brand new song “For The People.” This was definitely a stellar week for Chitown’s Thelonious Martin, who put his production skills to the test on a multitude of different tracks, including Naledge‘s “Arthur Agee Freestyle” and Alex Wiley‘s “Icky Woods.”

The title of this week’s most unique sound might go to Weekend Money, as Ne$$ tries to exorcise his inner “Demons” over some creepy, lurching production courtesy of BaghdaddyA-1 might have the strongest track in this week’s lineup though, with “Summertime Sadness.” Spitting over the Ryan Hemsworth remix to the Lana Del Rey single of the same name, A-1 takes the song’s title to heart, highlighting the spike in violence that occurs in Oakland as a result of the scorching heat of the summer. On “Ol’ Skool Pontiac,” Jeremih tries his hand at the rap game, opting for a more chopped and screwed, Houston sound alongside Big Sean and Paul Wall. We’ve got a few more bangers right beside that one as well with A.J. Crew‘s “Don’t Ask Me (Crafty)” and “Hate Me On The Low” from Tory Lanez2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa bring us the theme song for Fast & Furious 6,  with “We Own It,” a song that seems more appropriate for Eminem and 50 Cent circa 2005. Finally, we end things off with Yonas, who invites us to “Feel The Love” over a sample of Rudimental‘s single of the same name.

We hope you guys enjoyed our eight edition of The Hip-Hop Dojo as much as we did. As always, send all submissions/suggestions to baseer@themusicninja.com.

The Hip-Hop Dojo [Vol. 6]

Sorry for the delay this week folks. I had some unforeseen issues with my computer, which had me out of service for a few days. No need to worry though, because the Hip-Hop Dojo still lives on stronger than ever. To compensate for my tardiness, I’ve assembled the largest collection of music we’ve ever had for volume six. While I won’t be able to go into too much detail for this round, please note that there’s something here for everybody. Considering that last Saturday was 4/20, you know we definitely have a steady lineup of stoner anthems for you out there. From Odd Future’s Domo Genesis to longtime cardholder Redman, everybody was caught discussing the notorious green bud last weekend. We’ve also got a couple of bangers in here as well, with “94” by Kings Dead (formerly known as The Dean’s List) possibly being the standout track of the week. Additionally, quite a few artists make multiple appearances in this edition. Among them are notable names like Mac Miller, Kami de Chukwu, Los, and The White Mandingos, an alternative hip-hop band featuring the talents of Murs, Darryl Jennifer and Sacha Jenkins. Hope you guys really enjoy this edition of the Hip-Hop Dojo. As always, send all submissions and suggestions to baseer@themusicninja.com. Peace.

[Hip-Hop] Pusha T, Raekwon & Joell Ortiz – Tick, Tock (Prod. Frank Dukes & S-1)

We finally have one of the first singles of what could possibly one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time in RZA‘s The Man With The Iron Fists. The tracklist has had mouths watering for weeks now, as fans eagerly waited for a taste of what’s to come. With original compositions coming from none other than The Wu-Tang ClanKanye West, The Black Keys, Wiz Khalifa, and more, it’s easy to see why. “Tick, Tock” definitely sets the tone early on of what to expect with both the film and the soundtrack. As the song begins, the beat easily paints vivid pictures of a typical coyote western film, before seamlessly transitioning into a subtle, meditating oriental backdrop. If you’ve seen the trailer for the upcoming film, you’ll come to understand why the mood changes incidentally like that. It’s easy to imagine the scene that takes place alongside this track: something along the lines of a kung-fu warrior (presumably the man with the iron fists) training for his most epic bout to date, before finally beginning his battle after the conclusion of the song. Pusha T, Raekwon, and Joell Ortiz certainly make an eclectic pairing overall, but they all do an excellent job of setting the mood properly, bringing their own flavor and flair to each fiery verse. It’s an absolute understatement to say that RZA’s done a great job of setting the mood and building the hype for this film thus far.

Definitely make sure to cop the soundtrack for The Man With The Iron Fists, dropping October 23rd, and don’t miss the film in theaters on November 2nd.

[Hip-Hop] Slaughterhouse – Welcome to Our House (Album Review)

In 2008, four well known and talented emcees banded together and decided to deliver some dope music that the rap game has been missing since the days of The Black Sheep or Leaders of the New School. Members Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Crooked I, and Royce da 5’9″ formed the group Slaughterhouse and recently have been dropping a mixture of singles and mixtapes that have kept their buzz heavy in the industry. With their newly-inked Shady/Interscope record’s deal, the rap supergroup step out into mainstream success on their debut album Welcome to: OUR HOUSE.

From the beginning, the album starts on that dark, crazy tone that is signature of Royce da 5’9″ and Em’s recent style with added hooks from the macabre Skylar Grey and the high-energy Busta Rhymes featured track “Coffin”. Quickly shifting from chainsaw and horror-movie themed tracks to the stripper-party inspired single “Throw That” ft. Eminem, OUR HOUSE  fluctuates from raw underground vibe, real rap, and some commercial tracks but still manages to give each member their shine. While delivering well timed puns, in-verse rhymes, and metaphors, the lyrical content throughout the OUR HOUSE is top-notch.

Coupling dope lyrics with A-list production, it is clear that Slaughter House wanted to do the fans justice while elevating beyond just underground success. With a darker, drum-heavy AraabMuzik-produced beat on the street single “Hammerdance,” snare drum rhythms on the No I.D.-produced “Get Up,” and the radio-friendly Street Runner single “My Life” featuring Cee-Lo, to the intimate Boi-1da-produced single “Goodbye,” OUR HOUSE showcases a variety of content without sacrificing the group’s personal style of delivering real rap. Interestingly, during the album’s promotion, fans were even treated to exclusive releases on platforms like instantcasino.com, blending the worlds of music and online entertainment. While this album may not be the rap game’s “savior” LP, it is undeniably a strong return to the days of focusing on clever lyrics—regardless of content—paired with top-notch production, offering a refreshing take in an increasingly stagnant music industry.

[Hip-Hop] Slaughterhouse -Throw That (ft. Eminem)

It’s getting closer to the album release time and Shady Records rap group Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce da 5’9″, and Crooked I) teamed up with Eminem to drop another leak for the fans. Now it is apparent in the rap game that when many artists go mainstream they decide to have at least one “romantic” sexy track and “Throw That” is that single for their upcoming album. With lines like, “She strips to get tips, those lips and those child bearing hips, I’ll throw this dick on you girl,” this game is as close to romance as a girl can expect from the legendary lyricists. Mixing a heavy bass T-Minus produced beat with some funny and dope lyrics, they made a certified banger that satisfies both twerkers and rap lovers alike.

You can cop this cut over at iTunes, as well as their upcoming album Welcome to: OUR HOUSE, which drops August 28th.
