GTA & Diplo – Boy Oh Boy + Diplo & DJ Fresh – Up [Anthems]

Diplo‘s 2013 world takeover has just begun. First up, teaming with GTA for some funky Electro infused Moombah. Sampling Missy Elliot‘s song “Work It” in the best ways possible, and delivering some incredible vocal work. Ever drop in this just keeps you wanting more, and the third drop resembles Knife Party‘s track “Sleeze”. Next is another huge collabo from Diplo and DJ Fresh, and they murder this one. With another massive sample, using Notorious B.I.G.’s track “Grab My Gun”. Pew, pew, pew, lasers.

These were both ripped from the mix at the bottom by GTA titled, Death To Genre’s Mix Vol. 1.

Missy Elliott – 9th Inning and Triple Threat ft. Timbaland

Thinking back on the 90’s and early 00’s, the dynamic duo Timbaland and Missy Elliott ruled the radio stations and rap game with consecutive innovative and revolutionary hits that were equally bizarre and dope. Although these two have not collaborated in over a decade, they reunite to take over the charts and radios once again with Missy’s newest singles “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat”.

Almost like they never left. Teaming up and delivering some raw-rap flow reminiscent of their earlier days together, Timb and Missy bring some old school feel on “9th Inning”. Complete with horns, a start-and-stop dancehall vibe and piano rips, this Timbaland produced single has both emcees dropping sick verses to salvage a music scene in a “bad state”. “Triple Threat” is the faster tempo, more club-friendly track of the two singles. Coupled with drums, synths, and Timbaland on the hook, this up-beat party single has Missy boasting about her triple threat talents of singing, rapping, and dancing.

[Drumstep] Missy Elliott – Get Ur Freak On (Skullee Remix)

After tremendous success with The Cookbook in 2005 Missy Elliott seemingly fell off the face of the planet and hasn’t been heard from since. It’s unfortunate considering the female rapper was a trailblazer in the hip-hop scene and shocked pop radio with hits like “Get Ur Freak On”. Thankfully Skullee swoops in and reminds us of how legendary Missy is but with the addition of heavy, raspy drums. Enjoy!

Bad Girls – ft. Missy Elliott and Rye Rye (Switch Remix)

Switch, the other talented half of Major Lazer, has made our day. We have been boombarded with Bad Girls remixes from a lot of producers and just when we were going to throw in the towel on ever posting a Bad Girls temix, bass master Switch comes a long with the help of Elliott and Rye Rye and drops an incredable remix of M.I.A. single. These two added verses plus the trap-influenced Major Lazer-esque bass style just raises the track to new banging heights.

[Rap/Hiphop] Busta Rhymes featuring Missy Elliott, Lil’ Wayne & Chris Brown – Why Stop Now (Remix)

Someone told Busta Rhymes his current single “Why Stop Now”  feat.  Chris Brown could be way better then it was and guess what.. he listened! Adding more vocals, lyrics and adjusting the flow has really shows that the 11x nominated Grammy rapper is not afraid to innovate on old tracks, something that we’ve seen happen a lot more recently in the EDM scene with artists like Dillon Francis and his 2 versions of I.D.G.A.F.O.S and Beutician.

The new & improved Why Stop Now opens the floor for Lil’ Wayne and Busta’s sweetly-named “beautiful twin” Missy Elliott who matched Busta in her fierce spit of lyrics down the mic. With all artists dropping their lyrics in a style they do best, the record really steps up a notch and added to the best of busta collection 🙂
