[Serene] Mitski – Francis Forever (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

Mitski
Francis Forever (Ryan Hemsworth Remix)

If you’re still coming down from the massive amount of feelings instilled from Ryan Hemsworth‘s Valentine’s Day mix, prepare for a lot more because he just gave us his beautiful remix of Mitski‘s “Francis Forever” that was featured in it. Ryan applies his textbook cute and futuristic touch to the gentle indie tune, managing to not only tug at the heartstrings, but also expand on his constantly evolving exploration of sound that’s stemmed from his latest album, Alone For The First Time.

Delicate synths flutter alongside the simple yet resounding drum work and percussion as the airy vocals of Mitski shimmer within the fluctuating space. It’s a tune that almost makes time stand still while it plays. As with almost any Ryan Hemsworth song, your mind begins to drift into an innate sense of calm and you find a warm center of solace as the tune progresses. We can count ourselves lucky not just for the stream, but for the free download also, so don’t forget to grab your own copy! Finish off your day right and get a little emotional with Ryan’s new tune above.

60+ Songs to Prepare for Treasure Island Music Festival in SF, 10/18-19 [Event Preview + Playlist]

timf2014-sfweekly-fullpgLineups for major music festivals often boast 100+ artists, which although in theory is a great concept, can end up being overwhelming and frustrating when you realize the impossibility of seeing every act on the bill. San Francisco’s Treasure Island Music Festival, a collaboration between Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment, provides one of the few exceptions to this conundrum electing to go with fewer artists and alternating sets at only two stages. Having attended last year, we found this to be a genius, albeit seemingly obvious, solution making the experience far more relaxed for festival-goers without sacrificing any quality in the music. Aside from the unique arrangement, the backdrop of Treasure Island overlooks both the Bay and Golden Gate bridges and has one of the more stunning sunsets the Bay Area has to offer. For anyone who will be attending this year, we also highly recommend checking out the non-stop Silent Disco stage courtesy Silent Frisco.

To help you all prepare for what should be an amazing weekend of music, we’ve put together a massive playlist including every single artist on the TIMF lineup because, with no overlapping sets, you will actually have the opportunity to see them all. Whether you’ve already got your ticket, are still on the fence or can’t make it this year, we hope this serves as a fun, introduction to a dynamic collection of musicians. One and two-day passes for Treasure Island Music Festival are still available so, if you like what you hear below, grab your tickets HERE.

[Chill] Ryan Hemsworth (Feat. Tinashe) – One For Me (Lucas Remix)

Ryan Hemsworth
One For Me (feat. Tinashe) ~ Lucas Remix

Ryan Hemsworth is one of the most dynamically talented producers in the industry today and he has the catalogue to prove it. Not only has he worked with everyone from Tinashe to The Underachievers, but his own personal discography is incredible as well. If you aren’t convinced this Canadian prodigy can produce any genre under the sun, I urge you to look into his remix EP, RYANPACK Vol 1. His collaboration with Tinashe on “One For Me” was one for the ages and something entirely incredible on its own merit. However, Seattleite Lucas is out to prove that you can take a Hemsworth and make it your own. The first thing you’ll notice is this edit is slowed down, both instrumentally and vocally. This sadboi anthem sounds a lot more instrumental than its predecessor, thanks to Lucas’ own piano work. You need this song in your life, we promise.

Cream Soda (with Tomggg)

Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth just wrapped up his summer tour with a set at this past weekend’s FYF Fest, and he will be heading back home to finish his forthcoming album. Today he’s shared more important news with the announcement of three Japan tour dates in October, and the release of a new single with Japanese producer Tomggg called “Cream Soda.”

The upbeat instrumental track sounds like something straight out of a video game with its melodic chiptune cheer. “Cream Soda” is a delightful pop number that stirs in futuristic elements with dainty bells and whistles, and the result is wholly wonderful. “Cream Soda” is available for a free download via SoundCloud.

[Hip-Hop] The Underachievers – Incandescent (Prod. Ryan Hemsworth)

The Underachievers
Incandesent

The Underachievers break their recent mute 2014 status with a dope new track for our listening enjoyment. The Ryan Hemsworth-produced single “Incandescent” is something a little different from their previous body of work. The rap duo make their return to the webs with a dark, moody vibe and gritty, menacing lyrics to match. Paired with some heavy drum work and harsh keys, the underground crew try to come hard with this new sound. Signed to Flying Lotus‘ Brainfeeder imprint, you can expect the Brooklyn group’s debut album, Cellar Door: Terminus Ut Exordium, later this year.
