[Electronic] SBTRKT – Temporary View (Feat. Sampha)

SBTRKT
TEMPORARY VIEW ft SAMPHA

Anytime we get a chance to catch a glimpse of SBTRKT and Sampha together, you know it’s going to be an amazing day, even if it is just a “Temporary View.” Over the past year, the British producer has teased fans with countless experimental instrumental tracks in an attempt to hold them over until the release of his upcoming sophomore LP. Now that he’s back with what we presume to be the first single from that album, it’s refreshing to hear him working with his longtime partner once again.

Lush and vibrant synth soundscapes pave the path for Sampha’s delicately unwithered vocals on this one, as SBTRKT continues to push boundaries the way only he knows how. Like many of his previous singles, “Temporary View” lands somewhere in the zone between an infectiously bouncy dance number and an inspiringly ethereal trance inducer that’ll completely consume your mind for seconds at a time. We could not be more excited for the innovative producer’s upcoming project, so keep your ears peeled and stay tuned for more from him in the weeks ahead.

[Electronic/Experimental] Sampha – Slow Lights

Slow Lights

Over the last few years, rising producer/singer Sampha has worked on projects with SBTRKT, Drake, and released a six-track solo EP, Dual, in 2013. Needless to say, fans are anxious to get their hands on his upcoming debut album. According to a new post from Sampha, it’s currently in the works, and he has a brand new track to share with the world.

His latest comes in the form of a new instrumental (emphasis on the -mental) track “Slow Lights.” Spacey synth arrangements fade in and out of one another as Sampha adds a heavenly vocal extension into the mix, resulting in a three-minute ride through psychedelic soundscapes and off the wall production. Check out the track above and be on the lookout for more music from Sampha in the near future.

[Chill] SBTRKT – Runaway (Feat. Jessie Ware & Sampha)

sbtrkt
r u n a w a y

SBTRKT spent a good amount of time in 2013 teasing us with some of the new sounds he was experimenting with in the studio. While that trend hasn’t quite changed yet, he has chosen to unearth some of his older material. “Runaway” is a track that he’s used in sets dating back to at least 2012, and one that he apparently used to close out his New Year’s set as well. Sparse on details, what we do know about the track is that it features vocals from the talented Jessie Ware, with Sampha echoing in the background. Although the track is barely over a minute, it’s still incredibly beautiful. Here’s hoping we get to hear a much longer version sometime in the near future. Stream the track above, and stay tuned for SBTRKT’s sophomore effort, which should be dropping soon.
