[Electronic] SOHN – The Wheel (Mazde Remix)

SOHN
The Wheel (Mazde Remix)

Mazde is a sensational upcoming producer from Germany. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because he brought us this absolutely sublime Disclosure edit that I’m sure even had Flume sweating. The twenty year old has been hard at all work all summer on this new edit of his and the finished product has arrived and it was well worth the wait. SOHN has become a household name in the past couple years and his staying power is solidified even more with this crafty production by Mazde, adding on the alt-indie single’s downtempo backing and bringing it to the forefront with some excellent production chops. This wunderkind just got picked up by the guys over at Stoney Roads, so you can guarantee that his efforts will exponentially grow in both quality and quantity from here on out.

[Beautiful] Sohn – Lessons

SOHN
Lessons

We post a lot of music that would be amazing to hear on a dance floor, surrounded by hundreds of screaming, dancing fans. TWe post some music best suited for a proper set of headphones, a glass of wine and ample time for careful listening. UK based Sohn has provided us with the latter today.

You may have guessed it already, and yes you are right. We’re currently chilling out, wine in hand, analyzing music. To be honest, we were hoping to find something heady and intriguing and we’ve found just that. While a lot of you may be familiar with Sohn’s work with BANKS, a lot of you might not be just yet. We can assure you that this track will not only ensure that you become acquainted, but will guarantee your interest in anything he does in the future.

“Lessons” is a euphoric vocal journey is a composition of deep melodic production, simplicity, and haunting vocals. It’s the type of track that you have to listen to a few times before you truly understand it, but no matter how many times you hear it, you just can’t seem to get enough. It has it’s moments of exciement, but to us, the beauty lies in the gorgeous rolling bass, soulful vocal harmonies, and alternating vocal exchanges.

At only 13 hours old at this moment, it’s easily one of our favorite tracks. Bravo.

[Ambient] BANKS – Waiting Game (Prod. SOHN)

BANKS
WAITING GAME (Prod. By SOHN)

BANKS may only have four songs to her name, but the L.A. native has already shown a tremendous amount of versatility in her music. “Waiting Game” might just be the largest departure from what we’ve heard so far from the young crooner. Her sultry, yet graceful vocals trickle over a medley of menacing synths, brooding percussion and balmy piano riffs. Through this combination, the song is able to establish an atmosphere that is altogether haunting, pensive, and evocative, which helps her fit in perfectly with new tourmate, The Weeknd. We’re not sure how much longer we’ll have to play the “Waiting Game” for BANKS’ debut album, but we’re expecting it to drop soon.
