Wasting My Young Years (Sound Remedy Remix)

“Maybe I’m wasting my young years…”

The tantalizing and thoughtful lyrics of London Grammar’s lead vocalist Hannah come rushing out at :14 of Sound Remedy’s remix of LG’s “Wasting My young Years”. Such a beautiful song originally, Sound Remedy takes the song to a different level of music, adding in strong violins to begin the song followed by soothing piano and finally, drums to electronic melodies to elevate the track. The lyrics of this song touch on what many people wonder, are we just wasting our young lives doing what we have always done or is it the fear that keeps us going back to what we know and what is safe? Sound Remedy uses his electronic beats to turn this song into an almost adventure, leading the listener from questioning to dancing back to questioning the waste of young years. It is not many times that I use beautiful to describe an electronic piece, but Sound Remedy truly finds the beauty in this remix, playing to the feeling and lyrics of the song with a vengeance.

Carousel – Let’s Go Home (Sound Remedy Remix)

Calling Sound Remedy and up and coming producer will be a disservice to the talented now established master remixer from Los Angeles. Taking up his latest victim, indie band Carousel (who recently moved from Boston to Brooklyn this Spring), Sound Remedy packs a lot of bright melodies into a ridiculous addicting track. Already 24 hours in with 33k plays on Soundcloud, this light and fulfilling remix is bound to create happiness in your day.

Ellie Goulding – Hanging On (Sound Remedy Remix)

Taking dubstep down a much more mellow route, Sound Remedy delivers yet again another exciting gem. Known for taking current indie songs and flipping them upside down, the LA producer takes on Ellie Goulding‘s beautiful cover of “Hanging On” by Active Child and creates a fresh chillstep ride that glides from beginning to end into an almost trance-like state of soft wobbles and delicate vocals.

[Banger] Nero – Crush On You (Sound Remedy Remix)

An absolutely impressive remix by Los Angeles producer, Sound Remedy. Crush On You by Nero is a track that is dubstep to its very core, and stripping from it, may be down right idiotic. But it is this upcoming producer Sound Remedy that grabbed the bull by the horns and converted this monster into a whole new electro beast. Using vocal samples from the original and a much aggressive Porter-Robinson-esque epic bassline, Sound Remedy continues to surprise us with the evolution of his production. Enjoy

[Electronic] Lupe Fiasco – Words I Never Said ft. Skylar Grey (Sound Remedy Remix)

Seems that our brains build associations with music. You hear one thing, and expect something to follow. You hear Ke$ha’s voice, and expect nausea. You hear soft buildups in a hip hop remix song, and expect a dubstep beat. Well, it’s always nice when someone does just the opposite.

When Sound Remedy’s remix opens up, I couldn’t help but think – this is going to be a wicked build up for a filthy dubstep song. Then a little mini break came. No beat. No wobble. Huh. More buildup. Okay, the beat will drop in soon – can’t wait. The beat never comes, but what follows can only be described as sheer auditory pleasure. A few minutes of blissful synth and Skylar Grey’s wavering vocals.

Sound Remedy has thrown up some great remixes (check out his James Blake track), and while this won’t get people moving on the dance floor, it was a welcome change of pace from what we’re used to.
