[Event Review] Electric Zoo Day 3 + Playlist

In case you weren’t able to make it out to Randall’s Island for this year’s Electric Zoo, TMN’s got you covered. We were lucky to catch some pretty amazing performances from artists like Getter, Lil Dicky, Louis The Child, Valentino Khan, and many more.

The minute we stepped onto the premise, we were bedazzled by the stages. The Cobra Stage in particular had us in a state of awe, with a design almost unimaginable. Of course, our attention was quickly steered away by the lineup we didn’t want to miss. Getting our day’s fill of bass and hip hop from the Buygore stage from acts like GTA, Borgore, and Juicy J, we then made way to the Riverside stage to catch a vivacious set from Andrew Bayer. We closed out the eventful night at the main stage for a spectacular set from The Chainsmokers, where we enjoyed an array of music from some alternative classics to their charting originals.

As this year’s festival was jam-packed with an assortment of fantastic performances, we thought we’d put together a playlist to highlight a few of our favorites!

’Weekend’
’Borgore Ft. G
Eazy – Forbes (Getter Remix)’
’All I Need (One Mo Drank)’
’Molly (feat. Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco)’
’Pierce Fulton – Borrowed Lives Feat. NVDES’
’The Chainsmokers – KANYE Ft. Siren’

[Future] The Chainsmokers – Roses Feat. ROZES

The Chainsmokers
Roses ft. Rozes (Original Mix)

The first thing we do when we wake up in the morning, at least most of us, is look out our windows to see what the weather is like. Usually just this simple act can set our mood for the rest of the day. Whether good things or bad things come your way within those next 24 hours, the way you perceive everything is predetermined by that one glance. But this is when music becomes the hero. Just one push of the play button and a single song can completely change our attitude for the remainder of the day.

So what’s a perfect example of one of these powerfully effective songs? How about The Chainsmokers’ newly released original, “Roses,” featuring Philly vocalist, ROZES? From start to end, the signature uplifting and melodically rich production of the charismatic duo fills your ears with sweetness and your mind with visions of cloudless skies and sunshine. Surfacing this is the soft, yet resonating voice of ROZES, who sings of the notion of a beautiful romance. Her voice harmonizes with a not-so-familiar voice during the buildup, that of The Chainsmokers’ very own, Drew, consequently adding a sense of depth to the track.

So go ahead and click that play button, because the next time you wake up, you will be smelling nothing but “Roses.”

[TMN Premiere] The Chainsmokers – Kanye (ALMOND & SAMME REMIX)

The Chainsmokers
Kanye (feat. sirenXX) [ALMOND & SAMME Remix]

Another week, another Chainsmokers post but I promise you this one is well worth your while. “Kanye” has been the self-empowerment song of the summer, and it certainly slaps too. If the original didn’t inspire you enough, it certainly did for Almond & Samme, two upcoming producers who make their Ninja debut tonight. Although this isn’t the first time the two have teamed up, as Yeezus himself would say, this one is God level. With festival season just starting up down south in hotbeds like Australia, Brazil, and the South Pacific, look for this energetic, upbeat edit to pick up some serious steam and support. What may sound like stereotypical progressive house melodies on the surface turns out to be extremely intricate and those vocal chops at the end are something else. Be like Kanye and jam out to this one time.

[Melodic House] Bebe Rexha – Drinking About You (The Chainsmokers Remix)

Bebe Rexha
Drinking About You (The Chainsmokers Remix)

The Chainsmokers are so much more than their big room house hit “#Selfie,” and this is proven to be true with their latest remix release, “Drinking About You.” Singer Bebe Rexha gets her dub tune reworked by the New York duo, who layer lush piano chords atop angelic vocals, resulting in a slowed down melodic anthem that’s upbeat, yet serene.

The boys, who just finished wrapping up their world tour, are now settling back in the studio to prepare for the drop of their second original track entitled “Kanye.” We have no idea what to expect, but The Chainsmokers assure us that “Kanye” is the perfect follow up to “#Selfie”, without any bullshit.

“Drinking About You” will be available for purchase in September via Warner. Check back here next Tuesday, Aug 5 for the release of “Kanye.”

Jose Gonzalez – Step Out (The Chainsmokers Remix) [TMN Exclusive Premiere]

Jose Gonzalez
Step Out (The Chainsmokers Remix)

Today we have the pleasure of premiering our Resident Artist The Chainsmokers new remix of Jose Gonzalez’s song, ‘Step Out’. The boys are big fans of Jose and have loved this song, and more of his music, for quite a while. They took this song and turned up the electricity in it by adding an addictive melody and intensifying the already wonderful lyrics, keeping the soothing sounds for parts of the beat while putting their own Chainsmokers touch on other parts.

The boys describe why they decided to remix this song:

So this is the theme song from the ‘Walter Mitty’ film. And you have probably heard it in numerous adverts and airline commercials about travel… but when we first heard it MONTHS ago we thought it would be such a cool song to do a remix for because of the anthemic nature of the vocal, and not to mention we are big fans of Jose. His older song ‘Crosses’ is an all time favorite of ours! Anyway, the song is rather basic in format our goal was simple, to turn that chorus into a massive anthem of feels. That sorta feeling you get when you achieve something great. In the end, the track is largely in tact, as well as its emotion we think we just gave it that festival sized power…

And that is exactly what they did. Turn this remix up loud and feel the energetic emotions of this song sweep over you, taking your mind and body on a wonderful new adventure.
