Fans of The ILLZ have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. With the days getting shorter, it’s easy to let your mood get consumed by the long darkness at times, but The ILLZ is here to shine a ray of hope into your life. His newest track is chock full of positive and uplifting messages, as he spends two straight minutes spitting bars about overcoming adversity. The track then winds down by leaving us with a short parting message before letting the ethereal echoing of the piano fade us out. It’s another short and sweet track from the Jersey emcee, but certainly still an impactful one. Each and every releases draws us closer to The Darkest Hour, the new project from The ILLZ dropping soon.

As the warm, breezy summer days start rolling to an end, and winter starts to creep up on us, it’s easy to start getting disconcerted. However, The ILLZ is here to remind us that with every new day comes a new opportunity. As with most tracks from The ILLZ, every single word is carefully chosen, with each verse serving a purpose towards establishing the song’s message. Over an atmospheric yet upbeat instrumental, the Jersey emcee covers topics ranging from self-realization to finding the perfect soul-mate, touching on both the struggles he’s had with those issues, as well as his new perspective on them. “A New Day” looks to be a standout track on what’s already shaping up to be an amazing album, in The Darkest Hour, dropping November 13th. You can grab an advance copy of the project over at his official website, TheILLZ.com.
[Hip-Hop] The ILLZ – The Constant Gardener
You could not make a more accurate statement about The ILLZ‘s music than the title of his newest song. Delgis Mustafa has been one of the most consistent writers out there, steadily delving out crops of genius from us to pick from with each and every project he’s released. His newest album, The Darkest Hour, seems to be no different. “The Constant Gardener” is the intro track on this album, and a pretty ambitious one at that. Using the same sample of “Garden of Peace'” by Lonnie Liston Smith as Jay-Z‘s classic “Dead Presidents“, The ILLZ proves that he’s more than capable of filling the shoes of a top notch emcee. Although it’s pretty short at a hair over two and a half minutes, the song certainly gets the job done, building up the anticipation for The Darkest Hour, dropping on November 13th.
