[Remix] Oh Land – Sun of a Gun + (Savage Skulls Remix)

What’s not to love about this tune? Not only is Nanna Fabricius, aka Oh Land, a total babe (in fact, one of the better parts about writing this post is looking for a picture of her), but this jam’s got a real timeless feel to it, AND it makes for a couple of killer remixes. A real triple threat. Oh yeah, and her voice ain’t too shabby either and just as classic as her good looks. But what’s a classic song without an in your face electronic remix? Thanks to Swedish duo Savage Skulls, we no longer have to wonder. And if you STILL haven’t gotten enough, check out another great remix by Yuksek over here.

[Remix] Teeth – See Spaces (DREAMTRACK DIAMOND SOUND)

There seems to be a wave of awesome tracks coming through lately that all share a lot of characteristics. These tracks are usually 5 to 6 minutes in length — longer than your typical jam, but shorter than your crazy long dance remixes — and, more importantly, they usually like to use the majority of those minutes to build up before exploding into a wave of goodness to close things out. Such is the case with this tune by Teeth and masterfully remixed by Dreamtrack. Starting out with a hot beat and never letting up, there’s tons of energy from start to finish, but it waits until the second half for the first true in yo face drop.

[Folk/Pop] Our Husband – Villages

There’s nothing better than a long session of cleaning out your inbox and finding a hiddem gem of a song among the riff-raff.  And such is the case with “Villages” by Our Husband.  Australians Nathaniel Morse and Freya Adele really grab you with this one with their somewhat gratuitous but completely appropriate use of reverb (which is sometimes overused, but just seems so right in this case) and the way they build up the layers.  It starts out simple enough with a catchy little guitar riff, but as the song progresses, more and more layers are added on, peaking with Freya’s ascending vocals.  Can’t wait to hear some more from them in the future.
