We finally have one of the first singles of what could possibly one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time in RZA‘s The Man With The Iron Fists. The tracklist has had mouths watering for weeks now, as fans eagerly waited for a taste of what’s to come. With original compositions coming from none other than The Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West, The Black Keys, Wiz Khalifa, and more, it’s easy to see why. “Tick, Tock” definitely sets the tone early on of what to expect with both the film and the soundtrack. As the song begins, the beat easily paints vivid pictures of a typical coyote western film, before seamlessly transitioning into a subtle, meditating oriental backdrop. If you’ve seen the trailer for the upcoming film, you’ll come to understand why the mood changes incidentally like that. It’s easy to imagine the scene that takes place alongside this track: something along the lines of a kung-fu warrior (presumably the man with the iron fists) training for his most epic bout to date, before finally beginning his battle after the conclusion of the song. Pusha T, Raekwon, and Joell Ortiz certainly make an eclectic pairing overall, but they all do an excellent job of setting the mood properly, bringing their own flavor and flair to each fiery verse. It’s an absolute understatement to say that RZA’s done a great job of setting the mood and building the hype for this film thus far.
Definitely make sure to cop the soundtrack for The Man With The Iron Fists, dropping October 23rd, and don’t miss the film in theaters on November 2nd.
