On Gambino’s most recent project, ROYALTY, we saw him team up with two members of Black Hippy, Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q. On Sour Face, CG enlists the most senior member of the crew, Jay Rock, for a track to ride to. Jay Rock’s aggressive, gangster flow fits surprisingly well with Gambino’s approach and this is yet another demonstration of the growth of Donald, exhibiting versatility while maintaining his uniqueness. After hearing this, I am highly anticipating a collaboration with the fourth member of Black Hippy, Kendrick Lamar. My favorite line on this one references the talented and beautiful Alison Brie, who is one of Glover’s co-stars on Community. In the Bay Area, we would refer to this as a SLAP.
